The Albany Police Department nabbed a burglary suspect on Friday after receiving a heads-up from an alert community member. A phone call regarding a vehicle break-in on the 1000 block of Clay Street set officers in motion. According to the APD's announcement on their Facebook page, it was the sound of glass shattering that alerted a resident and, subsequently, the authorities.

The officers arrived at the scene to find the vehicle with a shattered window, evidence of the burglary's violent intimacy. With information from the resident, police combed the neighborhood and found a suspect in the 600 block of Kains Ave, just a few blocks away. The individual, carrying property later confirmed stolen from the victim's car, was promptly arrested. In addition to burglary and possession of stolen property, the suspect also faced charges of resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia when booked at Santa Rita Jail.

The police statement on Facebook thanked the community for their vigilance and cooperation, which once again proved critical in apprehending the perpetrator.
