
An incident described as an apparent murder-suicide unfolded in Pompano Beach on Thursday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of a man and a woman. According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened near North Pompano Beach Boulevard and Northeast Third Street before deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue were dispatched just before 12:30 p.m., as per WSVN.
The scene was cordoned off amid flashing lights while emergency responders attended to the two victims, both suffered gunshot wounds, a female pronounced deceased at the location and a male, though initially alive when transported to the hospital, later succumbed to the injuries. BSO detectives have not released the identities of the two persons nor the circumstances that spiraled into the gunfire.
In the aftermath, cellphone footage captured by bystanders showed emergency services at work and a body covered by a yellow tarp; meanwhile, Local 10 News provided a witness account, "It just sounded like firecrackers going off." Investigations are ongoing, with detectives focusing on a nearby car while collecting evidence. Restaurant workers noted that the couple seemed upset just before the incident, with one worker saying, "The woman walked out, stormed off and the man followed — possibly with a bag" and "Five seconds later, gunshots rang out.."
