Two Massachusetts natives have joined the ranks of Brentwood Fire and Rescue, adding their experience to the prestigious fire department in the south. The recent induction of Alex Ackles and Bryan Williams into the team was highlighted at the Brentwood City Commission Meeting, where Fire Chief Brian Goss warmly referred to them as the newest "members of our family."

Having journeyed from the northeast to the warmer clime of Brentwood, both men bring a history of academic achievement and fire service. Ackles, hailing from Concord, Massachusetts, attended Eckerd College in Florida, where he not only earned a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies but also played for the men's soccer team. Post-graduation, Ackles turned his sights to California, initially chasing a career in collegiate athletics before eventually pivoting to firefighting in Cookeville Fire Department, as per the City of Brentwood, Tennessee. His notable certifications include Pumper Driver Operator and Fire Officer among others.

Williams' background is similarly marked by a commitment to the fire service but grounded in the local experience of a Massachusetts fire department. Before moving to Middle Tennessee about a year ago, where he worked with Williamson EMS, Williams had dedicated three years to firefighting in his home state. Desiring to return to the fire service, Williams sought advice from peers and eventually found his way to Brentwood Fire and Rescue.

"While he enjoyed the progressive service delivery and significant training they offer, he missed the fire service," Goss explained about Williams' transition back into firefighting, as per the City of Brentwood, Tennessee. The sentiment expressed by Goss highlights the pull that the fire service life seems to exert on those within its ranks. Now, with Ackles and Williams aboard, Brentwood Fire and Rescue continues its tradition of encompassing a diverse brotherhood of expertise and dedication to the craft of firefighting and public service.
