In a recent surge of community-driven compassion, Broward County Animal Care has effectively doubled its adoption rates through the Empty the Shelters program. According to a news release from their office, a total of 228 cats and dogs found new homes in July, marking over a 100 percent increase from their previous event in collaboration with the Bissell Pet Foundation.
During the period from July 8 to July 31, the Bissell Pet Foundation uniquely stepped in to financially support the adoption of 58 dogs and 170 cats and kittens. "Animal Care embraces opportunities to connect with partners like Bissell Pet Foundation to save lives and connect pets with families," Doug Brightwell, Director of Broward County Animal Care, told the press, as per the news release.
The initiative made strides to meticulously pair these pets with their new families, ensuring that all adopted pets were vaccinated, sterilized, and microchipped before adoption. By teaming up with the Bissell Pet Foundation, the fiscal burden that might discourage potential adopters was lifted, thereby opening doors for many to consider adding a new member to their family.
