The Broward Sheriff's Office is on the hunt for a suspect or suspects, responsible for opening fire on two patrol vehicles. The incident, which left the vehicles scarred by gunfire but the officers unharmed, occurred on the stretch of Interstate 95 near Sheridan Street, as WSVN reported.
The deputies, who were heading north on the interstate, initially perceived the impacts around 11:30 p.m. yesterday. They described the sensation as something striking their patrol units, an event that, the BSO later confirmed, took place at approximately 11:38 p.m. Each vehicle sustained a single gunshot to the front windshield, according to statements obtained by both WSVN and NBC Miami.
The deputies were lucky to escape without injury. The BSO disseminated pictures that gave a clear view of the hefty impact and the resulting cracked and shattered glass on the vehicle's windshields, which NBC Miami shared.
The authorities are encouraging anyone who might have information, or video from the vicinity of the Hollywood/Dania Beach corridor of I-95 during the time frame of the shooting, to come forward.
