A Chicago man has been charged in connection with the expressway shooting from 2023 that resulted in the deaths of a 1-year-old girl and two teenagers, as well as leaving three others injured. The incident, which occurred on Interstate 57, has marked one of the city's more tragic acts of violence in recent memory.
According to a CBS News Chicago report, the shooting took place on the evening of Feb. 19, 2023. Authorities initially responded to find a vehicle riddled with gunfire on the northbound lanes of I-57 at 116th Street.
The victims in the backseat of the car, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as 13-year-old William Smith and 19-year-old Nasir Hall were pronounced dead at the scene. The youngest victim, 1-year-old A-mara Hall, later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. Further details revealed in a WGN-TV article, disclosed that the vehicle, a white Ford Escape, was found peppered with bullet holes.
Sean Richardson, a 20-year-old resident of Chicago, is accused of three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder, as detailed by CBS News Chicago.
