In a late-night sweep on the South Side, Chicago Police took a 17-year-old male into custody in connection with a vehicular hijacking and armed robbery that occurred earlier this year. The arrest, which the Chicago Police Department detailed, unfolded in the 4700 block of S. Union Ave. earlier this week.
The teenager is accused of confronting a 39-year-old female rideshare driver at gunpoint, which the crime allegedly took place on April 28, around midnight, in the 5900 block of S. La Salle St.
Identified as the aggressor, he now faces several felony counts, including aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, armed robbery with a firearm, and possessing a stolen vehicle valued over $25,000, as per the Chicago Police Department. "No additional information is available at this time."
