A 16-year-old male juvenile has been charged with multiple felony counts relating to two separate but consecutive incidents of armed robbery and aggravated battery, according to a press release by the Chicago Police Department. The juvenile was apprehended on the 1100 block of S. Hamilton Ave. and identified as the assailant in both violent encounters which took place last month in the 14th District.
The first case involved an attack on a 71-year-old woman on July 26, where the juvenile reportedly used a deadly weapon to batter the senior citizen before forcibly taking her possessions on the 1900 block of N. Albany Ave. Following this incident, with an hour gap, a 39-year-old woman fell victim to armed robbery in the 1700 block of N. Whipple St. The same juvenile was said to be connected to this crime. Charged with two counts of robbery armed with a firearm, one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, one count of aggravated battery to a victim aged 60 and over, and also two counts of unlawful restraint, the accused is now facing serious repercussions for the purported actions, as detailed by the Chicago Police Department.
As the defendant is underage, his identity has been withheld from public disclosure. Upon his arrest on August 27, he was promptly taken into custody and the charges laid out. No further details have surfaced since the arrest, and the case is subject to ongoing investigation.
