
An 18-year-old male juvenile is now facing serious criminal charges after his arrest yesterday. According to a Chicago Police Department report, the young man has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking using a firearm. He was apprehended in the 9300 block of S. Rhodes Ave., identified as a perpetrator involved in two separate vehicular hijacking incidents.
The incidents put a 55-year-old woman and a 47-year-old woman in the throes of fear, their vehicles taken from them at gunpoint on July 21. The Chicago Police disclosed that the first hijacking occurred around 5:50 p.m. in the 9000 block of S. Greenwood Ave., the second hijacking unfolded an hour later in the 7600 block of S. Cicero Ave. Having tied the suspect to both of these distressing events, authorities moved to place him under arrest and charge him accordingly.
No further information has been released at this juncture regarding the additional circumstances of the arrest or the current status of the juvenile accused. However, the Chicago Police Department continues to provide updates as the case moves forward. Police have not indicated whether others were involved, the suspect being the only one who has been charged.
