The California Highway Patrol's operations over the past week in Oakland and San Francisco have culminated in a dramatic series of events, including a freeway shooting, a high-speed chase, and the arrest of three suspects. According to Hoodline report, the initial gunfire incident took place near I-580 westbound at Golf Links Road, leading to the suspects' flee in a gray Nissan sedan without plates.
The CHP Oakland Area officers pursued the vehicle, which eluded capture even after crossing into the jurisdiction of the CHP San Francisco Area. With support from both CHP Air37 and local units, officers ended the high-speed chase at Hester Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard, swiftly apprehending the suspects after they abandoned their vehicle. During the search, officers discovered an Avtomat Kalashnikova (AK-47) assault rifle with extended magazines littered with spent shell casings inside the gray Nissan.
A second firearm was located in a backyard near the 2100 block of Bayshore Blvd, as detailed by the CHP Oakland. This backyard, a hiding spot for the three suspects before their arrest, hinted at a more widespread involvement of weapons in the incident.
The recent findings have prompted the CHP Oakland Major Crimes Unit to intensify its investigation into the shooting and subsequent events on Tuesday. Officers who found multiple spent shell casings emphasize the likelihood of involvement of multiple firearms. The CHP has issued a call for witnesses and anyone with information about the case to assist by contacting the Major Crimes Unit directly at (510) 457-2875.
