The Escondido Police Department is on the lookout for a driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that left a young male pedestrian with severe injuries last night. The event occurred on the 1100 block of N. Fig Street shortly before 9:30 p.m., as reported by the Escondido Police Department.

The victim, estimated to be around 18 years of age, was promptly taken to a local hospital after he was found unconscious on the street. The young man, whose identity remains undisclosed, is reported to be in critical condition. Witnesses or anyone, who might have caught a glimpse of the vehicle's hurried departure heading south, are being urged to step forward with any information they might possess.

A 911 call logged at 9:26 p.m. brought the incident to light, indicating the victim was possibly riding a skateboard at the moment he was struck. The Escondido Police have assigned Officer Paul Smyth to lead the inquiry into the hit-and-run.
