A 36-year-old man, identified as Alex Heher, has been arrested in Fairfield on charges of voyeurism after incidents at local department stores. Reporting from FOX19, Sgt. Brandon McCroskey of the Fairfield Township police confirmed that Heher was apprehended following an incident where he allegedly took photos of a woman in the changing room at a Kohl's store. She was able to see that he had a phone. She yelled out that he had a phone to alert people and ask for help. McCroskey shared about the victim's quick reaction.
In a distressing continuation of this pattern, court documents revealed, gleaned from WLWT, that Heher is alleged to have covertly recorded a 51-year-old woman, which also took place at a Kohl's store in Fairfield Township. This comes in addition to separate voyeurism charges stemming from an April incident at a Target in Hamilton County. Heher's history reportedly includes past charges where he has captured images of unsuspecting women without their consent.
Local12 reports that Heher was arrested in June for similar violations involving photographing a woman at a Target in Colerain Township. The recurrence of these charges paints a troubling picture of repeated privacy violations against women in public spaces.
Law enforcement took Heher into custody as he exited the front door of the Kohl's store. Remarkably, police noted he was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of his arrest, indicating a surveillance measure was already in place due to prior incidents. This set of circumstances raises questions around the efficacy of current measures to prevent repeat offenses and protect the community. Details regarding his bail status or legal representation have not been disclosed at this time.
