According to FOX59, the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of E. 62nd and N. Meridian Street. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) and EMS crews responded to the scene where they discovered the two vehicles had crashed.

IMPD stated that the sedan was traveling southbound on N. Meridian Street and had to struck the passenger van as it moved eastbound on E. 62nd Street attempting to cross the intersection. The IMPD’s fatal crash team was dispatched to gather further information and ascertain the circumstances of the incident. The adult female driver of the sedan, who was found in critical condition, was promptly transported to a local hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the passenger van was also taken to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition. As reported by WTHR, the surviving driver is cooperating with IMPD’s investigation and has completed a routine blood draw—a standard procedure in such fatal accidents. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

Traffic was reported to be clear by 4:15 p.m., a few hours after the crash, as conveyed by WRTV. They have yet to publicly share additional details regarding the events leading up to the collision.
