The San Diego Police Department has arrested five teenagers in connection with a fatal stabbing that took place at a trolley station in Logan Heights yesterday. The incident, which led to the subsequent arrest of the suspects, happened just after 4 p.m. on the 32nd and Commercial trolley platform, as reported by the city's website.

The situation escalated when the victim, a Hispanic male believed to be in his late teens, had a verbal altercation with the group of suspects. Soon after, the group followed him, and a confrontation ensued, which resulted in the victim being stabbed with an unspecified weapon. As per the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System security and the La Mesa Police Department, their assistance was instrumental in the capture of the suspects around 5:45 p.m., located at 4700 Spring St. in La Mesa.

Upon responding to an initial battery call, which was upgraded to a stabbing as they were en route, SDPD Central Division officers found the victim on the sidewalk near 3200 Imperial Ave. with at least one stab wound. Despite efforts to administer aid and the arrival of paramedics who rushed the victim to a hospital, he was pronounced dead. The specifics of the victim's identity are yet contingent upon confirmation from the San Diego County Medical Examiner.

The five suspects, who were also identified as Hispanic, were apprehended and have been booked into Juvenile Hall for murder. The suspects include one 17-year-old, one 16-year-old, and three individuals who are 15 years of age.
