A tragic intersection of lives has left a Tennessee community grappling with the aftermath of a deadly shooting. Adrian Wilkerson, a 20-year-old man, has been charged with second-degree murder after allegedly shooting a 16-year-old boy at the Residences of Gallatin apartment complex. The incident occurred on Sunday night, as reported by The Tennessean, police arrived at the scene around 11:15 p.m. following a call about the shooting on Albright Farms Drive.
The victim, who was reportedly engaged in breaking into vehicles within the complex, was confronted by Wilkerson, and during the attempt to flee, was fatally wounded. WSMV quotes Tiffany Wilkerson, the mother of the accused, insisting her son's "intentions were not to kill a child," speaking to the heartbreak of two families now ensnared in a legal and emotional maelstrom, "It’s a very hurtful feeling," Tiffany Wilkerson said. "it’s not just me involved. it’s another family that’s involved, I have a heart. so, it hurts."
"Greenlee says that on one hand, the teen should not have been breaking into cars. But she also believes people can be too quick to pull out a gun," as per FOX 17. Local police encourage anyone with information to contact them at 615-452-1313.
