An argument that escalated over leftovers at a family gathering resulted in one man allegedly shooting his brother and their mother this past Friday. Marcus Dewayne Mundy, a 34-year-old Greenwood resident, is now facing attempted murder charges. The dispute centered around who would get to relish the remaining ribs from a dinner party at their mother's house. WISH-TV reports that the dinner was meant to honor Montae Mitchell, Mundy's brother, who was slated to depart for Navy boot camp the following Monday.
The exact degree of the injuries was unknown initially, yet a family member disclosed, during the party, that Mitchell suffered a gunshot wound to his back. After the altercation, he and his mother, Deann Miller, sought medical attention at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis. WISH-TV also reported that Mundy was arrested without further incident, according to the Johnson County Prosecutor's Office.
Further details emerged from a different source, with WTHR, which notes the shooting took place near East Worthsville and Sheek roads in Greenwood. Authorities took the suspect into custody on August 23. Family members told police that the dispute which led to the shooting was sparked by a quarrel over ribs.
