Yesterday morning, Hayward first responders discovered a 60-year-old man unresponsive near the 800 block of C Street. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, having shown no signs of life for several hours before their arrival. The presence of stab wounds indicated that this was the city's 11th homicide of the year.
The Alameda County Coroner's Office is leading the effort to identify the victim, whose name has not yet been released to the public. Formal identification procedures are ongoing, and the authorities are working to notify the man's loved ones.
