Hillsboro is gearing up to celebrate a significant expansion in its transit options with the MAX Red Line service growing its reach later this month. According to information from the City of Hillsboro's official announcement, the service extension, which connects the Beaverton Transit Center to the Portland International Airport, will now include 10 additional stations to the west.

The "A Better Red MAX Extension and Reliability Improvements Project" is not only expanding the rail line but also improving reliability with track and signal enhancements, which promise more on-time arrivals and a smoother ride to Portland International Airport, as per the  City of Hillsboro. The Red Line’s first ride was in 2001, and after extending to Beaverton in 2003, its latest growth seems timed with the increasing population of Beaverton and Hillsboro, which has spiked by nearly 50,000 residents.

The expansion, commencing on August 28, was covered in a celebratory note as local, regional, and federal dignitaries are set to attend the grand opening. The extended service aims to better connect Hillsboro residents with frequent service and more direct destinations, including a one-seat ride from Hillsboro International Airport to Portland International Airport, streamlining the journey for travelers and locals alike.
