The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation following the discovery of a male victim on the city's south side. Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Pagoda Drive, not far from Garfield Park, in response to a report of an individual down, according to FOX59. The call came in just before 3 a.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, law enforcement found the adult male with injuries described by officials as "consistent with trauma."
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, as stated in an early morning press release. IMPD's homicide detectives have since taken up the investigation into this incident. Moreover, forensic experts from the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency have been called to aid in identifying and gathering evidence. WRTV reported that the Marion County Coroner’s Office is tasked with determining the cause and manner of death and will release the decedent's name following a notification to his family.
The investigation is ongoing, and no suspects have been publicly identified or apprehended at this time. The area of Pagoda Drive, known to be a residential neighborhood, became a focal point for the responding officers and forensic teams early in the morning.
