The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has launched an investigation into the theft of a food trailer belonging to a local nonprofit from the north side of Indianapolis earlier this month. The Smoking Pastor, an organization that aims to foster community through free meals, confirmed their white "World Wide Trailer" valued at $100,000 was taken on August 10, from a location at 9111 Haverstick Rd.—a space shared by a co-working venture and a church, as reported by FOX59.

Caught on security footage, the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m., though it was not reported until later that morning. Despite the setback, The Smoking Pastor, in partnership with Helping His Hands Disaster Response, remains devoted to their charitable mission.

In a heart-wrenching account captured by WRTV, co-founder Kati Davis reveals the emotional toll of the loss: "He called me and I could tell he was on the verge of tears," she said. "When he told me the trailer had been stolen my heart sank." Kati along with her husband Jordan Davis had been on the cusp of seeing their non-profit vision come to fruition before the theft occurred.

Their initiative dubbed "The Smoking Pastor Project" had been gearing up to offer sustenance to those in need. The theft has inflicted not just a financial strain, but also a profound disappointment on the Davises. "We've been working so hard to make this happen and now we just feel disappointed," Jordan Davis said to WRTV. Local community members and the IMPD continue searching for leads.
