Earlier today on Indianapolis’s east side, police responded to a shooting incident involving a man and a woman. Just after 6 a.m., IMPD officers arrived at the 3600 block of Luewan Drive, located near 38th Street and North Mitthoefer Road. Upon their arrival, they discovered both individuals with gunshot wounds. Detectives on the scene quickly came to believe the incident was domestic in nature, suggesting the woman shot the man, followed by what seemed to be a self-inflicted gunshot injury on her part, the details of which were shared by WTHR.
FOX59 included additional details, indicating a firearm linked to the shooting was found at the scene, and authorities were in the process of obtaining a search warrant for the residence. IMPD had not made any arrests in connection to the case, and the two individuals were reportedly in stable condition. Both the man and the woman were cooperating with detectives during the investigation.
Meanwhile, a separate but close-proximity incident reported by WISH-TV noted additional violence in the area. A second call led officers to the 3600 block of Aurelia Court, which is only a short distance from the first shooting site. At this location, authorities found two more shooting victims; this man and woman were also taken to a hospital and said to be in stable condition.
The sequence of the events that morning precipitated another emergency call 20 minutes later, this time from the intersection of West 38th Street and Lafayette Road where authorities encountered a car crash scene with an additional gunshot victim. Although details on this third victim's condition and the dynamics of the incident are scant, as insinuated by WISH-TV. As of now, the public awaits further clarification from IMPD as investigations continue.
