Last evening, the area of Batiquitos Drive and Daisy Avenue in Carlsbad witnessed a distressing scene as a juvenile riding an electric motorcycle was struck by a vehicle, leading to major injuries for the young biker. The City of Carlsbad Police Department reported that they received a call about the traffic collision at approximately 8:02 p.m. yesterday.
The first responders in the scene found the injured juvenile receiving aid from bystanders in the middle of the intersection. They later received treatment for major injuries from the Carlsbad Fire Department before being transported to a local hospital. The driver of the vehicle involved, a 39-year-old Carlsbad man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the law enforcement officials. The current condition of the young motorcycle rider has not been disclosed, and their identity is kept anonymous due to their juvenile status.
Investigators handling the case have preliminarily ruled out drugs and alcohol as contributing factors to the accident, though the definitive cause remains under investigation.
