
Last night, a 31-year-old man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Lightwave Avenue in Kearny Mesa, according to the San Diego Police Department Watch Commander's Log. The incident, logged under the incident number 04428, occurred at approximately 9:32 PM.
Reportedly, the man was westbound on his 2021 Honda motorcycle when he entered the eastbound lanes for unknown reasons. After colliding with the center median, he was ejected from the bike. Riding into the oncoming traffic, the individual sustained a skull fracture and an orbital fracture, as well as abrasions. The accidents were considered non-life threatening despite their severity. Alcohol was reported to have been a factor in the crash.
The San Diego Police Department's Traffic officers are handling the ongoing investigation. The man, whose identity has not been released, was rushed to a local hospital following the collision. Authorities have yet to determine why the rider veered into opposite traffic, and they are probing into various possible causes behind the incident.
