The City of Hillsboro officially announced the appointment of Kendall Reid as the new Director of their Parks & Recreation Department following a nationwide search. Reid, pulling from his experience as the Director of Parks & Recreation in Oregon City, is set to usher in a period of leadership marked by integrity and team-building when he takes the helm on August 30.
City Manager Robby Hammond heralded Reid's arrival, emphasizing his approachability, experience, and the trust he has fostered in previous roles. "Kendall is an approachable, experienced team builder who has demonstrated integrity and trust in his work," Hammond said, according to the City of Hillsboro. Reid's selection came after an intensive interview process, involving both community members and staff from the Parks & Recreation Department, solidifying his reputation among his peers and stakeholders.
Reid's career in parks and recreational leadership includes positions at the Willamalane Park and Recreation District in Springfield and the Kroc Center in Salem. His commitment to the field is further backed by his educational qualifications, holding a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from Auburn University, along with a certification as a Park and Recreation Executive and a graduation from the National Recreation and Park Association Directors School.
"I am honored to join the Hillsboro Parks & Recreation team and eager to contribute to the positive and impactful work we do for our community," Reid said, as per the City of Hillsboro. His philosophy focuses on the importance of team culture, stating, "I believe a strong team culture is the foundation for accomplishing the mission. I understand the people I lead ultimately determine success or failure."
