An off-duty police officer from Lebanon, Tennessee, was pronounced dead following a single-vehicle accident that occurred on Aviation Way, city officials confirmed. In a statement obtained by WSMV, the Lebanon Police Department named the deceased as Officer Brendan Myers, a three-year veteran of their force; the accident took place yesterday afternoon. However, the specifics of the accident, including the time it happened, have not yet been disclosed to the public.
The incident led to a temporary closure of Aviation Way, with Lebanon police alerting residents through a Facebook post that the thoroughfare would be shut down for an extended period while an investigation into the crash was carried out, as reported by WKRN. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has been tasked to look into the cause of the crash, but the exact time of the incident remains unclear.
Reflecting on Officer Myers's service, the Lebanon Police Department commended his dedication, stating, "Myers was incredibly passionate about serving this city and its citizens, and his love for this community was evident through his daily actions as a police officer," as per a post they shared on social media yesterday, which was also cited by The Tennessean.
