
Tragedy struck on I-93 southbound near mile marker 14 yesterday afternoon when a 17-year-old, Lillianna Cawthron of Londonderry, was involved in a fatal one-vehicle crash. At 2:47 p.m., New Hampshire State Troopers from Troop B barracks responded to the scene where, according to their investigation, a gray 2008 Mercury Milan veered off the interstate and collided with several trees, the details of which emerged in a press release.
During the incident, the interstate experienced a complete shutdown while emergency teams from the Londonderry Fire Department worked to free Cawthron from the damaged vehicle; subsequently, the teen was taken to Elliott Hospital in Manchester where she later died of the injuries sustained, the immediate area was then restricted to two travel lanes for around four hours as authorities conducted their investigation and the scene was cleared.
