A man was fatally shot in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood on Monday evening, confirmed Chicago police. The incident, as described by the Chicago Sun-Times, took place around 6:30 p.m. in the 600 block of West 69th Street. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Emmanuel Daniels, was reportedly standing outside when a dark-blue sedan pulled up, and an assailant inside the vehicle fired shots at him.
Daniels sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at 7:23 p.m., as per the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The ABC7 Chicago report notes that he was declared dead on the scene.
The motive behind this heinous act is currently unclear, and authorities have yet to publicly release additional details surrounding the events. As per ABC7 Chicago, Area One detectives are actively still to begin investigations, and as of this report, no arrests have been made.
