Early Friday morning, tragedy struck on the South Side of Chicago as a 30-year-old man was fatally shot in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. According to details reported by the Chicago Tribune, the incident took place shortly before 6:45 a.m. While the man was attempting to get into his vehicle on the 7900 block of South Wabash Avenue, he was brutally confronted by attackers who then opened fire.
The Chicago Sun-Times adds that after the shooting, the wounded man was quickly transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center. Despite the efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead. In the immediate aftermath, the gunmen managed to quickly flee the scene in a yet-to-be-identified direction, thereby eluding capture by the authorities.
At this time, the police have not detained any suspects in connection to the shooting, and the victim's identity has not been disclosed to the public.
