
Earlier today, the Goulds neighborhood in Miami-Dade County was disturbed by the sound of gunfire, which led to the tragic loss of life. A man, whose identity has not been released, was found with multiple gunshot wounds after Miami-Dade Police were alerted to the scene by a ShotSpotter detection system, according to a report by Local 10. The shooting occurred around 2:40 a.m. near the intersection of Southwest 119th Avenue and 224th Street. Despite the efforts of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel, who transported the victim to Jackson South Medical Center, the man ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
While the police have yet to comment on the identity of the victim or the circumstances surrounding this incident, the investigation is ongoing. Responding to a ShotSpotter alert, officers discovered the victim at the aforementioned location, Detective Andre Martin informed NBC Miami. At the time of the announcement, no suspect information had been released, and authorities are requesting that anyone with information to step forward.
The technology of ShotSpotter, which detected the incident and alerted the authorities, has been instrumental in law enforcement’s capacity to promptly address gun violence.
