A deadly shooting has claimed the life of a man in northeast Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a call around 8:12 p.m. yesterday in the 3400 block of N. Leland Avenue, where they discovered a man with gunshot wounds inside a green truck. Despite being transported to a local hospital, the victim, later identified as 57-year-old Michael Alvin Edwards, was pronounced dead, according to FOX59.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. However, WTHR reports that witnesses described the nearby house, close to where the green truck was parked, as "troubled" and known to be frequented by squatters. One witness believed they saw Edwards exit the house before being shot, indicating a possible connection between the location and the deadly event.

Evidence of violence was clear upon IMPD's arrival, with bullet holes and shattered glass marking the scene. According to the reporting by FOX59, the vehicle's driver's side window had been shot out. There is no word at this time on suspects or arrests in relation to the crime.

As the investigation continues, police have yet to establish a clear motive or suspect in Edwards' death. Meanwhile, the Marion County Coroner’s Office has performed the necessary formalities to confirm Edwards' identity, as reported by WRTV.
