Early Tuesday morning, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a shooting on the northwest side of the city, as reported by FOX59. Officers were dispatched around 1 a.m. to the 4500 block of Candletree Circle, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
According to WISH-TV, the victim was quickly taken to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. As of yet, there appears to have not been any official information released about a possible suspect or what might have led to the shooting.
The area where the incident occurred is a neighborhood at Georgetown Road and West 47th Street near I-65, a detail given by WISH-TV. Police have cordoned off the scene and detectives are likely working to gather evidence.
As investigations continue, IMPD has yet to determine or disclose a motive behind the shooting. "The spokesperson did not say if a suspect in the shooting had been identified, nor whether a motive had been determined," according to WTHR. With no arrests made, the community awaits further developments on this violent incident.
