
A man suspected of burglary now faces several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, following a chaotic chase and series of collisions in Encinitas. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, the ordeal began around 9:00 a.m. yesterday when deputies responded to reports of a prowler near the 600 block of 4th Street.
Dominic Ferrara, the suspect whose date of birth is listed as March 6, 1993, was confronted by deputies while allegedly attempting to escape in a vehicle quickly. He engaged in a pursuit with law enforcement that lasted approximately nine minutes and involved collisions with two parked cars and two Sheriff's patrol vehicles. The pursuit ended on southbound Interstate 5 near La Costa Avenue, where Ferrara crashed into another car and fled on foot.
Authorities, aided by a Sheriff's ASTREA helicopter, set up a perimeter and began a meticulous search of a neighborhood near the 500 block of Rockport Court. Ferrara was arrested without further incident. Charges levied against him include burglary, reckless evasion of a peace officer, assault with a deadly weapon, and vandalism.
