A man was injured after shots were fired this morning in southeast Shelby County. The incident was confirmed by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, which reported to the scene on the approximate 8200 block of Meadow Vale Drive at around 4:40 a.m., as stated by Action News 5.
Upon their arrival, deputies found the man wounded and arranged for his transport to Baptist Memphis hospital. He was reported to be in a non-critical condition. The exact details surrounding the shooting have not been disclosed, and currently, suspect information has not been released, leading to ongoing investigations in the area. Residents were advised by the authorities, to avoid the affected Meadow Vale Drive to prevent delays and instead use Meadow Cliff Drive and Forest Mist Drive, as per a recommendation by WREG.
The location of the incident is notably close to a school, with the 8200 block of Meadow Vale Drive being just around the corner from Southwind Elementary School. This proximity raises concerns about safety, particularly during times when children are likely to be commuting to and from their place of education.
As of 7 a.m., today, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office described the investigation as still being active, and it has not provided any further details on potential suspects or the circumstances leading up to the shooting. "His conditions were not considered life-threatening," a statement detailed to the public by FOX13 Memphis.
