Maple Grove residents with little ones have an opportunity to ensure their child's car seat is as secure as possible, thanks to a clinic organized by local safety departments. The Maple Grove Police Department, partnering with the Maple Grove Fire Department, North Memorial Health, and Safe Kids Northwest Metro Minneapolis, is set to hold a child and booster seat safety clinic on September 21. The event, offering free car seat checks by nationally certified technicians, will take place at Maple Grove Fire Station 4 located at 8925 Lawndale Ln N from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Ensuring that a child’s car seat is installed properly is crucial for safety, and yet, many remain unaware of the common mistakes that can compromise a child’s well-being in the event of an accident. The clinic aims to educate parents and guardians on safe car seat practices, with experts available to provide hands-on assistance with installation. According to a Facebook post by the Maple Grove Police Department, "Nationally certified technicians will check your child’s car seat for safe and proper installation."
The service is offered at no charge, though donations are accepted to support the initiative. Each appointment is expected to take approximately 30-45 minutes per seat. Families interested in participating in this clinic should take the initiative to secure an appointment by either calling 763-581-3743 or emailing [email protected]. This effort underscores the commitment of local authorities and health organizations to protect the community's youngest members by addressing commonplace but critical safety concerns.
As the date for the safety clinic approaches, Maple Grove's policing and firefighting units, along with the healthcare and child safety experts, are readying to assist and educate families. By providing this essential service free of cost, they are helping to reduce the risk of injury to children on the road, a cause that every parent and guardian can support.
