Margaritaville Resort Orlando is gearing up to host the inaugural "Jimmy Buffett Day of Service" this Friday, right in sync with Florida's recently designated Jimmy Buffett Day. According to Orlando Weekly, the resort is rolling out the beachy red carpet with live tunes, a slew of activities for the whole family, and, of course, free margaritas and mini cheeseburgers for the first 500 guests who check in.
But this isn't just about wasting away in paradise. The event, kicking off at 5 p.m. and wrapping up at 7 p.m., also supports charitable causes dear to the "Margaritaville" crooner himself. Exclusive merchandise and commemorative cups sold will benefit Singing for Change, Buffett's nonprofit aimed at empowering small grassroots organizations.
As Click Orlando reports, the proceeds from the event are pledged to Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee. This storybook nonprofit provides vacations free of charge to children grappling with life-threatening illnesses, creating an oasis where families can take a break from hospital routines and medical procedures to create priceless memories.
