
Memphis is on the lookout for three suspects following a brazen armed robbery that included the theft of a 7-year-old girl's backpack. The Memphis Police Department responded to an incident at Hickory Grove Apartments the evening of August 26, where a family of three was confronted at gunpoint just before reaching the safety of their residence. According to Action News 5, the robbers took various items including the child's backpack filled with toys, and an iPhone with a distinctive cat phone case.
As provided by the details in a Local Memphis report, the 34-year-old father witnessed the men loitering outside before he sent his family upstairs. However, one of the suspects followed, pressing a handgun against his back. The victim's 23-year-old partner and daughter were subsequently searched by the accompanying criminals, during which the man's wallet, driver's license, passport, and credit cards were taken, along with the child's belongings.
The suspects, described as three men wearing a mix of hoodies and headcovers in various colors, fled the scene on foot. A Hickory Hill resident, Kiara Booker expressed her shock and disgust to WREG stating, "They have no home training because my thing is a child is innocent at the end of the day. For someone to rob a seven-year-old and her family is crazy." Booker's statement reflects the broader community unrest stirred by such a heinous act.
