Miami Beach is on edge as reports emerge that 35-year-old suspect Christopher Pitre, with a lengthy criminal record, is on the run. Pitre had been imprisoned for various crimes, including threatening Miami Beach Commissioner Joe Magazine with a gun. According to a WSVN report, the incident escalated when Magazine found Pitre asleep in his car, Pitre then threatened the commissioner with a gun before fleeing.

Commissioner Magazine, still shaken by an event, expressed his dismay to 7News, “This person pulled a gun on me. In the home where I live, where every morning I walk with my 7-year-old daughter,” he said. The suspect was remanded to house arrest with an ankle monitor after his initial arrest, only to have it removed and disappear without a trace. Despite an earlier request from the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office to keep him jailed pending his trial, Judge Ariel Rodriguez permitted the house arrest. Fox Sheldon posted on X regarding this matter, emphasizing the unsuccessful attempt by prosecutors to secure his detainment.

The situation is tense, with local officials, including Magazine, are worried about the community safety. "They arrested him with a loaded gun in his waistband with a round in the chamber and the judicial system has failed us,” Magazine told WSVN.

The chase for Pitre is on, as law enforcement officials warn that he is considered armed and dangerous. WSVN sources indicate that Pitre's whereabouts are unknown, and Miami Beach politicians are expected to make their discontent public soon.
