After an incident in June that led to charges of disorderly intoxication and trespassing, rapper Travis Scott has had the final charges dropped. According to NBC Miami, the 33-year-old artist encountered police when he reportedly disrupted peace near the Miami Marina, following an altercation on a yacht.
Initially, Scott was allowed to leave the scene without charges when the caller did not wish to press them, but upon returning to the marina after being instructed to leave, he was arrested. His bond was set at $650, which he posted following his overnight stay at the Miami-Dade County Jail. Despite the legal trappings, Scott's response remained casual as he shared a lighthearted rendition of his mugshot on Instagram with the caption "Lol." Details released by the authorities and bodycam footage showed Scott explaining the situation to officers: "I rented this boat, the owners came on this boat. They kicked down my door at 12 o'clock. I don’t know what’s going on, ask him," and asserting, "There was no fighting involved." Miami-Dade County records, accessed by NBC Miami, confirmed the trespassing charge was dropped this past Friday. Representing Scott, attorney Bradford Cohen stated that the arrest was the result of "a misunderstanding," and "There was absolutely no physical altercation involved, and we thank the authorities for working with us towards a swift and amicable resolution."
The dropped charges are a relief for Scott, who, as Hoodline reported, has faced several legal issues since the Astroworld Festival tragedy. The Houston-based artist is gearing up for his European tour, Circus Maximus, and aims to focus on his multipart initiative, Project HEAL.
