A couple was arrested at Miami International Airport after they refused to deplane from an American Airlines flight bound for Las Vegas. Eugenio Hernandez, with his forehead bleeding post-hair transplant surgery, and his wife, Yusleidys Loyola, who also underwent cosmetic surgery, insisted on remaining seated despite repeated requests by airline staff and police, escalating to their eventual arrest, as detailed by NBC Miami.
Hernandez claimed to have received clearance from his doctor to travel, displaying paperwork to support his contention, but flight attendants, after noticing his condition, his bandaged and bleeding head, asked him to leave. this led to a confrontation where Hernandez was told, "You need to go out because somebody don’t like what you have on your head," according to a WFLA report. Miami-Dade County police spokesperson Argemis Colomé highlighted that the situation could have been prevented if the couple had complied with requests to vacate the aircraft.
Following the incident, American Airlines issued a statement affirming the removal of the disruptive, non-compliant customers, emphasizing the professionalism of their crew members and extending apologies to affected passengers for the inconvenience, the airline also confirmed the delayed flight eventually departed the following morning, as reported by both NBC Miami and WFLA.
The couple faces charges of trespassing and resisting arrest. Loyola was scheduled for release on Wednesday morning. Hernandez after his release from jail, told NBC Miami about the significant pain he endured from the incident, both from the surgery and the confrontation on the plane.
