
The Museum of Ice Cream, known for its photogenic, whimsical experiences, solidifies its place in the heat of Florida by laying down roots at Miami Worldcenter, flaunting a 14,000-square-foot dedication to the frozen treat. Slated to open its doors on September 6, the museum rides on its streak of tasty success from past locations in New York City, Austin, Chicago, and across international waters in Singapore.
Local 10 News, reports that the institution's new downtown location isn't just about looks. It offers unlimited ice cream from Azucar Ice Cream and ice cream-themed cocktails during adult hours. Co-founder and Co-CEO Maryellis Bunn said her time in Miami has changed how she thinks about designing museums globally.
Symbolic structures within the venue, such as the sprinkle pool paying homage to the iconic Versace Mansion, add layers of cultural texture. The museum is keen on encouraging visitors not just to see, but to taste, touch, and smell their surroundings, integrating sensory elements throughout, "You’ll see sensory elements from taste, touch and smell incorporated throughout", said Bunn in a statement highlighted by Blooloop.
There's also a nod to the city's unique flavor profile, developed in partnership with International Flavors and Fragrances, that aims to offer a multisensory tasting experience reflective of Miami's palate. Through areas like the 'Grand Hall of Freezers', and the retro 'Cream Liner', the museum builds a landscape that merges nostalgia with novelty.
