The Metropolitan Police Department is turning to the community for help in tracking down two suspects involved in a recent burglary in Southeast. The break-in occurred on July 16, 2024, around 7:45 p.m. in the 400 block of Xenia Street, Southeast, as confirmed by the MPD. According to the official press release, the suspects shattered a window to gain entry to the residence and made off with various items before making their escape.
Local authorities are urging anyone with information about the burglary or the identification of the suspects to contact the police; people have been advised not to intervene directly but should instead call the MPD at (202) 727-9099, or send a text to the department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411 which could lead to securing up to $1,000 reward for details resulting in arrest and indictment.
The police consider community involvement crucial in cases such as these, recognizing that tips from residents often provide the necessary leads to resolve these incidents, offering a reward can be an incentive for individuals who might otherwise hesitate to come forward.
While the MPD continues their investigation, they reiterate the importance of community vigilance and participation; they further emphasize how sharing information which may seem trivial can sometimes be the key to advancing a case and, therefore, no piece of information should be considered too small or insignificant, and the police maintain an active pursuit of justice for those affected by crime within the District of Columbia.
