Brooklyn Park became an unexpected stage for a multi-agency police pursuit on the first of August when a suspect took flight on foot after abandoning their vehicle. According to an alert by tip411, the incident, which started with a routine traffic stop in Anoka County, carried over into the residential nexus of 74th Ave and West River Road.
An expansive ground search was launched involving a contingent from the Fridley Police Department, which included a K9 unit, while officers from the Brooklyn Park Police Department established the scene perimeter. Despite a considerable police presence that weaved through the community, the elusive suspect remained at large. In a report from the same day, it was noted that no weapons were implicated in the incident, nor were there any injuries reported.
The pursuit led to a considerable mobilization of police resources and may have caused residents to witness an uptick in law enforcement activity in their neighborhoods. Search efforts were concentrated in the area where a vehicle, believed to belong to the suspect, was found deserted in the 300 block of 74th Ave.
Fridley Police Department remains the primary investigator of the ongoing case.
