The streets of Chicago are set to roar with the engines of NASCAR once more as the city confirms the return of the NASCAR Chicago Street Race in 2025. It seems the inaugural 2023 event did more than just disrupt local traffic. It injected a cool $108.9 million into the local economy, according to a statement by the City of Chicago.
The financial results of the 2024 race are still being tabulated, the rubber will meet the road again against the backdrop of Chicago's skyline in the last of a three-year deal with the Chicago Park District.
While some residents may have bristled at the idea of high-octane racing through their streets, NASCAR's presence in Chicago extends beyond the race track. In 2024, the sports association didn’t just show up to compete. They showed up to contribute.Their involvement included sponsoring Chicago Park District Summer Day Camp programs for the city's youth, sparking an interest in science and math with a new STEM curriculum and even hosting a "STEAM Fest" with Chicago Public Schools, as per the City of Chicago.
