Nashville's most sought-after fugitive, Tyrone Walker, age 30, was captured on Monday evening by Nashville Police Department detectives after more than a year on the run, as reported by the Nashville Government. Accused of the August 2021 murder of Cecil Holmes Jr., Walker faced an indictment in April 2023 for first-degree murder and illegal firearm possession. His apprehension ended a lengthy manhunt by authorities determined to bring him to justice.
Officers informed that Walker was to be riding in a gold SUV in the Edgehill area, and adeptly deployed a spike strip to halt the vehicle. Upon exiting the SUV, Walker was diligently pursued on foot by detectives from TITANS, a specialized team of the MNPD. The pivotal moments before his arrest saw him discarding a pistol with an extended magazine, according to the Nashville Government's official news release.
The resultant chase concluded in a nearby field where Walker was subsequently tackled and restrained by law enforcement officials. This arrest was the culmination of extensive intelligence work by Vehicle Crimes detectives and TITANS. As detailed by the Nashville Government, Walker, with a criminal history including aggravated burglary, felony theft, and felony cocaine possession, was ordered by a Criminal Court judge to be detained without bond pending further hearings.
