
Homicide detectives are actively following up on leads after a fatal shooting that took place over the weekend. Christopher Rhodes, 25, was shot and killed outside his apartment located at 5800 Maudina Avenue on Saturday night, in what authorities believe to have been a dispute gone awry.
According to a report published by the Nashville Metro Police Department, officers arrived on the scene shortly after 10 p.m. and discovered Rhodes with multiple gunshot wounds. After being quickly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The confrontation that led to the gunfire allegedly started with an argument that had been brewing for some time.
The incident occurred as Rhodes and his girlfriend were bringing furniture into their apartment. They were reportedly confronted by an individual who engaged Rhodes in a physical altercation. Witnesses recount that the fight escalated, shots were fired, and the suspect then fled the scene by car.
No arrests have been made as of yet, but the investigation is ongoing, with detectives working diligently to not only piece together the sequence of events but also to identify and apprehend the suspect. The police are requesting that anyone with information pertaining to the shooting come forward to aid in picking up the trail that may lead to a resolution in this case.
