
A woman has died following a hail of gunfire in the Bordeaux neighborhood of Nashville. The shooting occurred around midnight Tuesday at the Overlook Ridge Apartments on Buena Vista Pike, where more than 50 shots were reportedly fired, as reported by WSMV.
The Metro Nashville Police Department stated that a man and the woman had returned to their home when their vehicle was ambushed. According to the police, the woman was struck by gunfire at least twice and succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The man accompanying her was unharmed. An unidentified vehicle, believed to have been following the pair, contained multiple assailants who initiated the attack. More than 50 shots echoed through the apartment complex, leaving several apartments battered with bullet holes, although no other injuries were reported.
Fox 17 News reported an investigation that yielded 58 shell casings. Metro Nashville Police have yet to determine if the shooting was a targeted event. As it stands, the investigation is treated as a homicide.
Further details from WKRN reveal the woman was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she was declared dead. The discovery of at least 58 shell casings around two vehicles has broadened the scope of an investigation that, as of now, has not yielded information about potential suspects.
