Nashville just got a fresh infusion of ideas and experience in the realm of higher education. Five new faces have joined the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC), and they're set to bring their diverse expertise to the table. These appointments were announced by Governor Bill Lee and reported by the THEC. The new members, hailing from all corners of the state, took their seats at the commission's quarterly meeting yesterday.
A group has been tapped to lead and advance the state's educational agenda. Each member is poised to leverage their distinct backgrounds in a concerted effort to increase the number of Tennesseans with postsecondary credentials and improve the state's higher education system. The lineup includes Gadson William Perry from West Tennessee, John Rader and Matt Van Epps from Middle Tennessee, and Mike Ragsdale and Charles Wood from East Tennessee.
"We are thrilled to welcome these five outstanding individuals to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission," said Dr. Steven Gentile, Executive Director of THEC, as per the Tennessee Higher Education Commission. The work they do is meant to resonate through the fabric of the state's higher education system, a system that claims a relentless focus on upscaling the number of residents with postsecondary qualifications.
