A 19-year-old North Chicago resident, Antonio Jackson, has been charged with one felony count each of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, and armed robbery with a firearm, following an arrest earlier this week. Jackson, who resides in the 1100 block of Mcalister Ave., was apprehended on the afternoon of August 21. Chicago Police Department reports indicate the incident occurred in the 4900 block of W. Cortez St., where he was taken into custody around 2:26 p.m.
Details of the alleged crime are vivid yet harrowing account: Jackson is accused of forcefully taking a vehicle at gunpoint from a 27-year-old man near the corner of W. Ferdinand St., in what appears to be a planned act of aggression. This event transpired just thirty minutes before the apprehension. In addition to the felony charges, Jackson has also received two traffic citations concerning the alleged offense, as per the Chicago Police Department.
The upcoming court proceedings for Jackson are scheduled for today at the Detention Hearing located at 2600 S. California Ave. No further details about the case or the defendant's plea have been released.
