In the early hours of Tuesday, a tragic incident unfolded on Pittsburgh's Railroad Ave. Pittsburg Police were called to a scene of a physical confrontation between two men that resulted in the death of a 65-year-old male, suffering from what officials described as significant facial trauma. Despite emergency responders' efforts to save him, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Multiple eyewitnesses gave descriptions of the perpetrator aligned closely with video footage from nearby businesses. With this information, law enforcement swiftly managed to locate and detain Billy Ray Darby Jr., a 28-year-old transient known in the Pittsburg area. Efforts to fully understand and comprehensively piece together the narrative that led to the deadly altercation are ongoing, with investigators urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
According to the Pittsburg Police Department, Darby is currently in custody. The case is expected to be presented to the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office following the conclusion of the investigation.
