In an act of community solidarity, The Inlet Bar in Riviera Beach is organizing a fundraiser to support the family of Capri Jordan, a 9-year-old girl who sustained serious injuries after being hit by a car while bicycling on July 1. The incident, which occurred at the intersection of Williams Street and Betty Ann Court in Lake Park, has spurred locals to action, seeking not just to aid in the child's recovery but also to push for safety measures that could prevent future accidents.

According to a report by WPTV, the driver involved in the crash took responsibility by immediately taking Capri to the hospital. Since then, the young girl has faced a challenging path towards recovery, including an induced coma, numerous fractures, and skin graft surgeries. The Inlet Bar's fundraiser is slated for August 25, from noon to 3:30 p.m., with all proceeds during the event designated for the Jordan family's benefit.

Ashley Callea, a family friend of the Jordans and an employee at the Inlet Bar, witnessed the aftermath of the accident. "This horrific accident did happen and this hit close to home because I have little babies," Callea told WPTV. "All the kids in our neighborhood, we want to protect them. We want to do everything we can to try to protect them.” Moved by the incident, Callea has been a driving force behind the fundraiser and a vocal advocate for the installation of speed bumps in their neighborhood.

Expressing a personal connection to the event, Shelby Meisler, owner of The Inlet Bar, empathized with the physical and emotional toll of such an incident, saying, “I got hit by a car on my bicycle when I was a kid," Meisler said. "I know what it’s like to go through all the physical therapy and to rebound from all of that, and it’s a long hard process,"  as mentioned in WPTV.
